Hannah Blakeman (she/they)
Hello! My name is Hannah, I am based out of Louisville, Kentucky, and I have been a hair artist since 2022. My art style is heavily focused on experimental, queer, and underground looks. I also love to produce timeless, natural-looking styles. I work within my integrity when it comes to healing our bodies and our planet; I use carefully chosen hair products with clean ingredients and work in an eco-conscious salon, Maeda.
As a teenager I did my own hair and my friends’ because we were poor and no salon would willingly make us look as insane as we wanted. I never felt comfortable in a mainstream beauty parlor because I have a feminism-fueled aversion to the standard idea of “beauty.” It wasn’t until I discovered other alt and queer hair artists (to whom I am deeply indebted) that were flourishing in larger cities that I considered doing this myself. I want to be a resource that “gets it” and can do your hair for you when the DIY at home thing ain’t cutting it. Zero judgement. Whether you’re a seasoned spa veteran or a young punk finally letting someone else touch your hair, you deserve self care, skilled hands, and safety from harmful chemicals.
I spend a lot of time at shows and sing in the band Shitfire. My stage and professional life are not separate— I approach both the art of hair and music with as much authenticity, care, and innovation as I can possibly give.
In the spirit of punk rock, I host sliding scale days every few months where I work for less than my usual rate. I also participate in Louisville Youth Group’s Trans Youth haircut events. Sometimes I do model calls for classes at discounted rates. Join my email list to for those announcements.
I offer private sessions for those who need them for religious or sensory purposes. I work at a wheelchair-accessible salon and am happy to accommodate your needs in any way that I can. Please reach out via email at hannah@hannahblakeman.com to arrange your session.
